They're barely out of their teens, but you wouldn't know it from looking at their Instagram feeds.

Sabrina Carpenter, Bella Hadid and Florence Pugh are all yet to celebrate their 30th birthdays, but commentators say they look at least a decade older.

And it's not just female celebrities who look old beyond their years. Experts say the same of many male A-listers.

Dr Daniel Kaufman, a plastic surgeon in Miami, warned that the trend is in part being driven by celebrities getting too much filler early in life.

The result is that their skin is becoming 'stretched' and giving them a puffy complexion, or 'pillow face' that can appear overdone and old beyond its years. 

Surgeons have also warned that fillers damage the skin, leaving it less able to produce collagen and elastin allowing it to spring back to the original youthful glow once the filler disappears.

Some suggest the injections could actually 'speed up' the aging process, which is 'usually the exact opposite outcome... that we are trying to achieve'.

Fillers have exploded in popularity in recent years, with 5.3million procedures carried out in 2023 compared to 1.8million in 2010.

And the age when patients start on the injections is getting younger, with many people barely out of their teens rushing to clinics to get any one of the dozens of plastic surgery procedures on the market today.

Dr Kaufman told this website he has had several cases where 21- and 22-year-olds have come to his clinic complaining of wrinkles on their forehead and requesting Botox, to which he would reply he couldn't see any.

'I think that is a big take on why people are looking older than they are,' he continued. 'They are trying to do too much in a minimally invasive way'.

These surgeons did not examine or treat these celebrities, and are purely commenting on the basis of photos and videos posted online. The Daily Mail reached out to all the celebrities prior to publication:

Sabrina Carpenter

Pop's new 'It' girl continues to make waves with her music and stunning appearance, but many are left shocked when they learn her age.

Sabrina Carpenter is only 26 years old, having just celebrated her birthday in May. However, fans say she looks well into her 30s.

Dr David Shokrian, a plastic surgeon in New York City, suggested she may appear older because of her alleged use of fillers.

'She appears to have done quite a bit with injectables,' he said, 'a lot of the time younger patients who have overdone it with facial fillers get an older look'. 

He continued: 'She is a young beautiful girl naturally. But when you add the overdone fillers, the make-up and washed-out hair color, the combination of these things makes her look middle-aged.'

Carpenter is also famous for her 'bangs' hairstyle, which was popular in the 1990s and 1960s, and has often given her music videos a 1960s theme — which may also be fueling perceptions she is older.

She has not previously confirmed undergoing any cosmetic procedures but plastic surgeons have previously told this website that she has had a nose job and has received filler in her lips and cheeks. 

Carpenter has not commented on allegations that she has had cosmetic enhancements.

Bella Hadid

The supermodel is famed for turning heads with her tight, angular and jaw-dropping features.

But many fans are left in shock after learning that she is yet to even turn 30 - having celebrated her 28th birthday in October.

Dr Shokrian suggested Hadid may have an older appearance because of her sunken-in cheeks, which he suggested may have been achieved via buccal fat surgery.

This procedure was popular in the early 2000s, and involved removing the fat pad from someone's cheeks to help patients appear more mature and give them a slimmer face. But surgeons warn the loss of volume in the face can age people rapidly.

'The fat pad gives the face that fullness, especially if you have more of an angular face which she does — she has a harsh appearance,' said the surgeon.

'But removing it gives the face that more hollowed-out look, or an older appearance than someone actually has.'

He suggested Hadid also looks at least a decade older than her one-year-older sister Gigi, who is not rumored to have had the procedure, and said he had even seen her in photos where she appeared to be pushing 50 years old.

Hadid has never confirmed that she had buccal fat removal surgery, but online she has become something of a poster girl for the procedure.

She is also among the few A-listers rumored to have opted for the procedure to attain the high fashion aesthetic.

Post Malone

Post Malone celebrated his 30th birthday last week, although many fans were shocked by the announcement.

'Thought he was in his 40s,' one individual wrote, while a second said, '30? Are you sure it's not a typo'.

Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, does not appear to have had cosmetic procedures that make hjim look over.

But he did undergo a 60lb weight loss in 2023, which surgeons said may have made him appear older because the shift caused his face to lose volume.

'If you lose a bunch of weight, that means you also lose volume in your face — which can make you look less youthful,' Dr Kaufman said.

Fans may also associate Post Malone's face tattoos and baggy, retro clothing choices with older individuals.

Dr Kaufman wonders if the star may at times be confused with Jelly Roll, who is also a heavily-tattooed hip-hop artist. Jelly Roll is 40 years old.

Malone maintains he lost the weight via cutting out soda and processed foods from his diet, and did not use a weight loss drug like Ozempic.  

Florence Pugh

This British actress is famous for her more mature appearance, but being born in January 1996, she is only 28 years old.

Surgeons suggested that, like Sabrina Carpenter, she appears to have used too much filler, which was giving her an older appearance.

But they also said she was using dark make-up and light hair dye, which can create more of a contrast and make the face appear more angular and mature.

Pugh has previously slammed speculation over her appearance, and says she aims to start conversations around this to help protect young female actors.

She said in a 2024 interview with The Times of London: 'It isn't the first time and certainly won't be the last time a woman will hear what's wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what's worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be.'

She added: 'I'm proud I've stuck by myself and look the way I look — I'm really interested in people who are still angry with me for not losing more weight, or who just hate my nose ring.

'I am not going to be able to just change the way that things are — but I certainly help young women coming into this industry by making conversations happen where they weren't before.'

Timothée Chalamet

The 29-year-old star shot to fame after his starring role in Dune and romance with Kylie Jenner.

But following his skyrocketing fame, some fans have suggested Timothée Chalamet appears to be slightly older than his actual age.

Dr Shokrian said, after viewing pictures of the star, that although he was aging 'like a regular guy,' it appears he is now losing baby weight from his face, which can make a person seem as if they've aged faster. 

'I think that is what made his features look sharper,' he said, 'but I don't think he has had any cosmetic work'.

'Over the last few years, he has gone from being a teenager to a young man, and these are some of the changes you would expect to see on the face.'

Some have previously suggested that his defined jawline may be the result of cosmetic work, but there is no evidence to support these allegations and Chalamet has not confirmed undergoing any cosmetic procedures.
