Eurovision's Remember Monday were left heartbroken as the UK received zero points in the public vote for a second year in a row on Saturday night.

The group managed to avoid nul point humiliation, but failed to win the illustrious song contest title, as Austria stormed to a narrow victory in what has been one of the most politically charged song contests ever. 

The country pop band, made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, all 30, represented the UK with their song What The Hell Just Happened?

Fans took to X to share their devastation and insisted the girls were 'robbed' after finishing with an average score of 88.

During the competition, viewers at home were convinced the group would win the competition as they praised their 'unbelievable vocals' on X.

While some fans feared the UK wouldn't get enough points, they insisted Remember Monday's song will be a hit regardless of the result. 

Fans on X penned: 'IDC what the haters say or what the results will be, these girls KILLED it #Eurovision',

Elsewhere fans were left disappointed as speculation Titanic songstress, Celine Dion, would make an appearance but never materialised on stage. 

Sophie Ellis-Bexter, announced Britain's scores from Switzerland, shortly after it was announced she was replacing Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa as the United Kingdom's Eurovision spokesperson for 2025.

The UK last finished triumphant in the contest 27 years ago with the victory of Katrina and the Waves in 1997, with their track Love Shine A Light. 

Remember Monday first gained prominence after appearing on The Voice UK in 2019 and have also had careers in theatre.

Remember Monday was dealt an unfortunate blow just hours ahead of the grand final. 

Theories began flying that they might take home the trophy at the 69th iteration of the annual contest in Basel, Switzerland - which would be the UK's first win since 1997.

Despite their high-energy routine, it appeared the odds were not in their favour as they were more likely to finish in last place than first, according to Ladbrokes.

In a crushing blow to their chances of success, they were ranked at just 66/1 to take home the trophy by bookies, with nine other countries soaring ahead of them.

Their odds of coming in last place are much closer at just 3/1, while the chance of them scoring 'nul points' was ranked at 12/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: 'Remember Monday need nothing short of a miracle to cause an upset in Switzerland tonight, if the latest odds are anything to go by.'

Remember Monday said prior to the final that if they suffered the same fate as 2024 entrant Olly Alexander, they have decided that everyone on their team will have to get the abbreviation of their song, WTHJH?, tattooed somewhere on their body.

'If we get top five or above, every single person on our team has to get WTHJH tattooed on their body,' they said on Instagram.

'We won't take no for an answer. Can I get a hell yeah? 

'It's happening, it's happening. It's got to happen. Or if we come dead last, nil points. That is also worth a tattoo.'

The band confirmed their bid for Eurovision when they appeared as guests on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

After weeks of waiting, Scott broke the news, saying: 'It ain't a Eurovision entry until I say it is. 

'I am so ready to get behind the act that is representing us and I know you're going to adore them. They are genuinely brilliant and really lovely.'

The song, which is out now, is an upbeat pop track full of energy, excitement and drama and was co-written by Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard and Julie 'Kill J' Aagaard.

BRIT Award nominees, Billen Ted, have worked with Little Mix, Anne Marie, MNEK and Armin van Buuren to name a few.
