Scotland legends Graeme Souness, Charlie Nicholas and Gordon Strachan have declared themselves to be Mexico fans in a new Paddy Power advert ahead of their World Cup clash against England.

The Three Lions face co-hosts Mexico in the World Cup last-16 tie at the Azteca Stadium, with the match kicking off at 1am UK time on Monday.

With Scotland already out of the World Cup following a group stage exit, Paddy Power have highlighted their new desire to see England's campaign come to a crashing end.

The advert begins with former midfield hardman Souness using a golf club to break a Mexican pinata in the shape of the number 66, referencing England's World Cup triumph in 1966.

‘We Mexico fans are laid back but we still have a ferocious will to win,’ Souness says.

'Something our next opponents are going to experience first hand, whoever that may be.'

Scotland legends Graeme Souness and Gordon Strachan have thrown their support behind Mexico in a Paddy Power advert ahead of their World Cup last-16 clash with England

Former Scotland striker Charlie Nicholas was seen wearing a Mexican wrestling outfit

The advert then shows former Scotland striker Nicholas wearing a Mexican wrestling outfit and attempting an accent as he extolled the virtues of their national team.

'Being a Los Azteca is all about passion, we may not always win but we will fight to the end,' Nicholas says.

'The atmosphere, the intensity, the altitude, I’m telling you, we are a match for anyone on our own patch.

Nicholas is then seen eating a sandwich, filled with baked beans, before claiming 'I bloody love tacos'.

The next Scotland legend Strachan is then seen in the costume of a mariachi band member, complete with a sombrero.

After stating he first joined a mariachi band at 69, it was highlighted that is his current age, before Strachan begins singing 'Oh Flower of Mexico', in a play on Scotland's unofficial national anthem.

Souness and Nicholas are then seen drinking yerba maté - typically associated with South America rather than Mexico - and a margarita to show their apparent support for the co-hosts.

Nicholas is heard denying his support for Mexico is due to England being their opposition, while Souness claims he is unaware of who El Tri are facing in their next World Cup clash.

Nicholas, who claimed to love tacos and was seen making a margarita, was among the Scotland legends to say 'Vamos Mexico' at the end of the advert

The advert continues with Strachan listing out a series of Wikipedia facts about Mexico to show his apparent knowledge of the country.

The Scotland legends are then heard declaring 'Vamos Mexico' at the end of the Paddy Power advert to reinforce their support.

England will face a tough test against Mexico at the Azteca, with the co-hosts boasting a formidable record at the stadium.

Thomas Tuchel has admitted his side are at a disadvantage due to having little time to prepare for the altitude in Mexico City.

The match could yet face delays due to thunderstorms being forecast, which could lead to delays due to rules dictating a match be suspended if lightning strikes anywhere within an eight-mile radius of the stadium.

Victory would take the Three Lions through to a quarter-final against either Brazil or Norway.
