Milan compete with Forest for Mateta
AC Milan remain in the frame for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta but the question has been whether they can match the financial package proposed by Nottingham Forest.
Palace are signing Evan Guessand for an initial £2m loan fee pending his medical today. However, another Palace target Angers forward Sidiki Cherif is talking to Fenerbahce.
Palace had earlier agreed a deal for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, but Guessand's arrival has put the brakes on that. Intermediaries, including agent Jorge Mendes, had verbally agreed in principle a £45m offer plus a further £5m for Larsen, but Palace stopped short of making it official.
Leeds keep an eye on Strand Larsen
Leeds United remain attentive to Jorgen Strand Larsen's situation after seeing the player's deal with Crystal Palace stall. Leeds previously offered £33m plus £6m in add ins but would have to restructure that within PSR restrictions.
Zinchenko heads for Amsterdam
Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is due in Amsterdam on Friday to undergo a medical ahead of signing for Ajax.
The Ukrainian cut short his loan at Nottingham Forest and was due to join Ajax on loan but that is being made permanent for £1.2m plus add ons if they qualify for the Champions League to fit in with the Netherlands regulations on work permits for non-EU players.
Forest, meanwhile, have had a £20m bid rejected for Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari.
Disasi nears London switch-up
Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is close to joining West Ham on loan.
The Hammers have also made an enquiry for Atalanta's Poland international midfielder Nicola Zalewski.
Chelsea are to hold further talks with Rennes in their efforts to sign centre back Jeremy Jacquet for this window. The French club want to keep the £56million-rated 20-year-old until the summer.
Pepi deal reaches impasse
Fulham's pursuit of PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi has stalled with the clubs around £800,000 apart. PSV want to sign a replacement with time running out and Pepi is content to stay until the summer if nothing can be agreed. Fulham are also evaluating Genk’s 6ft 2ins striker Oh Hyeon-gyu. The South Korean international has scored ten goals in 30 appearances this season.
Wolves eye Basel duo
Wolves have spoken to FC Basel about winger Philip Otele and versatile defender Jonas Adjetey.
Talks over the transfer of Emmanuel Agbadou to Besiktas are at an impasse after they failed to agree on a fee but the Turkish side may resurrect talks with their window open until February 11.
Imray to join the Baggies on loan
Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Imray is joining West Brom on loan.
Sunderland defender Aji Alese has joined Portsmouth on loan. Wrexham have made an approach for Ipswich forward Sammie Szmodics while defender Conor Coady, 32, has joined Charlton. Bradford City are closing on agreement with Wrexham over a loan deal for striker Paul Mullin.
Leicester City have confirmed midfielder Boubakary Soumare has joined Qatar side Al Duhail.
Watford are close to agreeing a loan for Manchester City left-back Stephen Mfuni, 17.
Banel heads to Derby
Derby have signed Burnley winger Jaydon Banel on loan.
Armstrong in demand
Wrexham, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City are among the clubs asking about Southampton striker Adam Armstrong. The 28-year-old is under contract until 2027.
Armstrong is the joint second-highest goalscorer in the Championship with 11 but has not found the target in any of his past nine league matches. 'There is a lot of noise and I think that is normal in every single window,' Saints boss Tonda Eckert told BBC Radio Solent.
MLS clubs are also interested in Armstrong who started out at Newcastle United before making his name at Blackburn Rovers.
