For the parents of some of showbiz's finest, it's a no-brainer that they may jump at the chance to upgrade their humble abodes to a more lavish residence.

But for some it seems that home really is where the heart is, as they've declined the chance to move into swankier settings to stay in their previous properties.

Stars such as Anthony Joshua, Lewis Capaldi and Liam Gallagher have never shied away from praising their parents for providing them with vital support during their rise to success.

And while they've no doubt they've offered their loved ones the chance to upgrade their homes with a chunk of their huge fortune, in the cases of these parents they've chosen to star in their original homes.

The threat of rent to pay or a heavy mortgage can still be an unpleasant one, and for stars such as Anthony, this has meant even buying his mum's council estate flat so she can reside in their stress-free.

Here's a look at some of the super wealthy stars whose parents have opted to stay in their modest homes...

For the parents of some stars, it's a case of home is where the heart is, with boxer Anthony Joshua's mother Yeta Odusanya among those who have opted to stay in their humble abodes

During his rise to become of the biggest boxers in the world, Anthony credited his beloved mother Yeta Odusanya with keeping him grounded.

In fact, the heavyweight champion even bought her former council flat in North London for £174,000 after turning professional in 2013.

Following his historic victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, Anthony briefly moved back into his mother's flat, sharing at the time she was proud of his incredible triumph in front of 90,000 spectators at Wembley.

He has previously credited the close-relationship with Yeta as being key to his rapid rise from amateur to becoming a boxing superstar – having since claimed the WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles.

But he is so fiercely protective that since winning Olympic gold at London 2012 he has not let her watch his fights, be it live or even on TV.

On Monday, it emerged that Yeta has rushed to Anthony's bedside at one of Nigeria's best hospitals as he recovers from injuries sustained in car crash that killed two of his friends.

Nigeria's president confirmed that Anthony's mum had joined him at the hospital after calling the boxing star.

Fans of Oasis long feared that Liam and Noel's feud was too entrenched to ever be resolved, but one formidable force they may not have counted on is the influence of a fiercely determined Irish mother.

The mother-of-three, who is originally from Co. Mayo and was one of 11 children, has been through her fair share of hardship in her life, with both Noel and Liam both making reference to their 'horrific' childhood in interviews and the abuse they suffered at the hands of their 'violent, alcoholic' father.

In 1984, the Gallagher matriarch was offered a council home and left with her sons in the middle of the night to get away from Tommy - telling the Supersonic documentary-makers that she 'spent her life worrying' about her children.

Despite Noel and Liam's repeated attempts to buy their mother a new home over the years, Peggy has always insisted on remaining in the same council house in Manchester - and only ever asked them to replace her garden gate.

Appearing on The Late Late Show in 2021, Noel added: 'We offered to buy her a house but where we're from in Manchester, she's got seven sisters and about five of them live about a 15-minute walk from each other so she wasn't going to move.

'The one thing she requested was we had a garden gate which was really squeaky and she said, "If you could just change the gate."

'We bought her a brand-new gate with a gold number 5 on it and she was happy as Larry after that.'

He added: 'I don't think she ever accepted that we were in a band or any good until she saw us on Top Of The Pops and then she said, "Oh, is this what you're doing?"'

Growing up, Peggy would take her sons back to Charlestown to visit and local pub owner John Finan told The Sun how Noel and Liam would spend a lot of time in their establishment, which had a lively music scene.

Following news of the Oasis reunion in 2024, it was reported that the pair were forced to hire 24-hour security for their beloved mother, after growing concerned for her safety

Last year, Peggy finally saw her sons bury the hatchet after their 15-year feud, as they took to the stage for a string of Oasis reunion concerts.

It was reported at the time that the pair were forced to hire 24-hour security for their beloved mother, after growing concerned for her safety as fans began to turn up outside the Manchester home where she still lived.

A source told The Sun at the time: 'Noel and Liam are devoted to their mum Peggy and they knew there would be a lot of interest in her after Oasis reunited.

'They wanted her to keep being able to live a quiet life and there have been fans coming to the house.

'They have employed a security firm to keep an eye on her and make sure she isn't hassled.'

In September 2024, it also emerged that Peggy sold her holiday home in Ireland for a tidy €300,000, after her sons grew increasingly concerned for her health.

During his rise to fame, Lewis Capaldi opted against moving into a swanky mansion of his own, instead residing in the same West Lothian house as his parents.

The singer decided to move out of his parents' West Lothian home during the Covid lockdown in 2020, and it was sold the following year.

When the house in West Lothian was listed in 2021, the estate agent listing described it as 'an exceptional and individually built family home'.

At the time, a source said: 'This property is a good buy for an investor. Imagine owning the house where Lewis Capaldi penned some of his most iconic hits. It's sure to be worth a fortune in years to come.'

A picture of his bedroom, where he was seen writing songs in the documentary, showed a microphone stand still perched in the corner.

The modern house has been fitted with a new kitchen with white units and marble tops.

The master bedroom, which featured an en suite, had bright green walls and a white double bed.

The open living and dining room looks out onto the family's garden, with Lewis's outdoor recording studio visible.

The Someone You Love hitmaker has multiple properties, including a £1.6million mansion in Glasgow.

Susan became an overnight sensation when her Britain's Got Talent audition went viral back in 2009.

But while she's had huge music success since then, she still makes a modest home in the remote village of West Lothian, which is covered with religious artefacts and snaps from her meetings with various big stars.

Susan told OK! magazine that even after finding success as a singer she couldn't bear to part from her home in Scotland as it holds too many valuable memories.

Channelling her love of music, the home is covered with memorabilia from throughout her career, and the record plaque for her hugely successful album as well as an enormous piano.

Susan also decorates her home with snaps from her various encounters with some of the UK's biggest stars, and pride of place on her window sill is a snap from her meeting with Pope Francis.

Speaking about her home, Susan said that even after her success in the music industry she couldn't bear to move out of her beloved home.

She said: 'It's to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie.

'It's best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn't say.'

Having grown up in a religious family, Susan's home is covered with plenty of artefacts and small statues, as well as a painting of her late parents.

Susan told the Edinburgh Evening News the house needed refurbishing for some time, as she said: 'The house has been needing doing up for some time, I was beginning to lose things in it.

'I've had the kitchen done, the living room papered, the floors done and a summerhouse put out the back.'
