Arsenal are finalising terms on a deal with Valencia for centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
As Mail Sport reported on Sunday, talks advanced over the weekend and the 21-year old has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
He is expected to undergo a medical this week though the clubs are ironing out the final details on a £13 million fee with added bonus payments.
Arsenal have been looking to add a defender to compete with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Mosquera can play at both centre-back and right-back and will fill the gap in the squad left by the departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
The Spain Under-21 international has made 90 appearances for Valencia and was a regular last season, playing the full match in 37 of the club's 38 La Liga games.

Arsenal are finalising details with Sporting Lisbon for the transfer of Victor Gyokeres.
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is expected to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his £52m move on Monday.
Arsenal have already signed Martin Zubimendi from Real Socidead, Christian Norgaard from Brentford and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad following another runner's-up finish in the Premier League.
The Gunners are also keen to add another attacking option with Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace high on their list of targets.
