Spotify is finally back online following a two-hour outage that left thousands of UK users unable to stream music.

'We’re aware of some recent issues that should be all clear now!' the Spotify Status X account tweeted.

'Thanks for your patience, you rock.'

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 13:30 BST, and affected users across the UK.

At the peak, more than 4,000 problems were logged - with the majority of reports complaining about the Spotify app.

Several frustrated users flocked to X to discuss the problems.

'Spotify is down again,' one user tweeted, alongside a screenshot of the app and a tombstone with the Spotify logo.

Another tweeted a screenshot of an error page, and asked: 'is spotify down or am i going crazy', while one joked: 'istg [I swear to god] I'm in the middle of a f***ing workout.'

MailOnline tried to access the Spotify app on an iPhone and did not experience any issues.

However, several users reported problems accessing content, including their downloads.

'This content isn't available right now,' a reported error message read.

The outage came shortly after Spotify made a subtle change that left its users fuming.

In a recent update, Spotify altered the layout of the home screen, moving the 'Your Library' tab aside to make room for a new 'Create' button.

For the app's daily users, this small change has been wildly frustrating as it replaces the most-used feature with an option many customers never touch.

Tapping the '+' button in the bottom right-hand corner, users can access options to add a new playlist, collaborate with friends, or join a 'Blend' with another user.

Spotify Premium users also have the option of accessing a 'Jam' to listen with other users in real time or use the 'AI Playlist' feature.

In a blog post announcing the changes, Spotify wrote: 'We wanted to simplify access to our music-curation tools.'

However, the new options have not gone down well with fans on social media, with one writing: 'People who design apps have no regard for muscle memory.'
