Ed Sheeran has admitted that he had drunk 10 pints of beer before famously gatecrashing Ruben Amorim's first-ever post-match interview as Manchester United manager.
Amorim was being interviewed by Sky Sports after United had been held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich in his first game in charge, five months ago.
Pop megastar Sheeran, an Ipswich fan who sponsors the club's kit and owns a minority stake in the club of 1.4 per cent, then came over to greet pundit Jamie Redknapp while the Portuguese coach was deep into his interview.
A frustrated Amorim was clearly unimpressed by the interruption, at the time, as he shook his head in disapproval as Sheeran embraced Redknapp with a beaming smile on his face.
And now Sheeran his executive box - which is decked out with alcohol - is the reason why the notorious awkward moment occured.
'I had it gutted and turned into a pub, you don't need to go for pre-drinks anywhere else,' Sheeran told the Men In Blazers podcast. 'And it's definitely got me in trouble sometimes.

'Like that [Manchester] United game where I didn't realise [Ruben] Amorim was getting interviewed. I honestly didn't.
'Jamie [Redknapp] said come and see me afterwards and I was wandering out afterwards. I'd had about 10 pints, saw Jamie, so I was like "Oh, I'll go up and say hi to Jamie".
'It was the wrong time - very clearly the wrong time - but I have learned my lesson and it won't happen again.'
On the fateful day, Sheeran had come over to greet Redknapp and said: 'I don't think he (Amorim) wants to speak to me.'
The United head coach stayed aloof, with Sheeran then adding: 'I love being back in the Premier League.'
In the five months that have passed, Amorim has endured an extremely difficult time in the United hot-seat.
With nine Premier League games remaining, The Red Devils sit down in 13th, while they have lost eight league games under the Portuguese head coach.
Meanwhile, Sheeran's Ipswich seem destined for the drop. The Tractor Boys are nine points from safety and have not won a league match in 2025.
The reverse fixture between the two sides, which took place in February, saw a 10-men United come from behind to edge a five-goal thriller.
