Danny Dyer begrudgingly gave his blessing for Jarrod Bowen to leave West Ham for two other football clubs, as he admitted it would 'hurt' to see his future son-in-law play for another team.

Bowen, 28, got engaged to Dyer's eldest daughter, Love Island star Dani, 28, in July last year, after the England player popped the question in Portugal.

The couple are set to tie the knot this spring, and Danny - a lifelong West Ham fan - has not been been shy about showing his approval of Bowen, once claiming there is nothing the club captain can do wrong in his eyes.

Bowen has emerged as one of West Ham's best players in the last few seasons, and is their top goalscorer in the Premier League in 2024-25, with seven.

His stellar performances have inevitably resulted in him being linked with a move away from the London Stadium. But Dyer admitted that he would only accept Bowen leaving West Ham for two Champions League giants.

The former EastEnders star shut down any possibility of Bowen joining a London rival, when talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein asked him if he would give his daughter's future husband permission to join Arsenal

'He's never going to do that, why would he? What's in it for him?' Dyer retorted.

Goldstein then asked the actor whether Real Madrid was a suitable destination for Bowen, to which Dyer conceded: 'He's got to go then, hasn't he? Real Madrid? Yeah, for sure.

Dyer doubled down on his reluctance to allow Bowen to join another London club when asked about Chelsea, simply replying: 'Why would he go there?'

But, asked whether a transfer to Man City would be acceptable, Dyer admitted he would have to come to terms with the bitter-sweet reality.

'Listen, it's his career,' he said. 'City? I wouldn't mind that, I'd suffer that.

'I'm not going to lie, it would hurt, but he's a grown man and he makes his own decisions. It would obviously hurt, but of course I would be over the moon for him.'

Dyer has often praised Bowen, describing him as an 'incredible' man that can do no wrong in his view.

'And I’ve said this many times, if you’re going to give your daughter away, give her away to the West Ham captain,' Dyer once joked.

Bowen and Dani have been dating since 2021 and share twin daughters Summer and Star, 22 months, while Dani is also mum to four-year-old son Santiago with ex-boyfriend Sammy Kimmence

Bowen joined West Ham from Hull City in January 2020 for a fee reported to be around £22million.

In October 2023, he penned a new deal with the Irons that keeps him at the club until 2030.

Bowen currently tops the West Ham payroll table, as the Herefordshire-born forward rakes in a staggering £150,000 per week, equating to an annual salary of £7.8m.

But a step up to an elite European club would almost certainly see this number spike.
