Halle Berry locks lips with Best Actor winner Adrien Brody

In a moment that took everyone around them on the red carpet by surprise, American actress Halle Berry ran up to Best Actor winner Adrien Brody and gave him a big smooch on the lips.

It was self-confessed payback for a moment at the Academy Awards in 2003, when Brody last won Best Actor, for war drama The Pianist. After Berry gave him his trophy, The Brutalist star turned around and gave her a kiss, elated at his victory.

Director Sean Baker told the crowd after winning, 'We made this movie for $6 million and shooting all on location in New York City with about 40 crew members.

'They’re all back in New York. This is for you guys. Thank you so much. We made this movie independently.

Mikey was up against Fernanda Torres, Demi Moore, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Cynthia Erivo.

And while some viewers were excited for Mikey, many of Demi's fans were not happy that she lost, and took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their frustration.

At that point Ben, 59, began to be lifted onto the stage from underneath with the help of an elevator, only for the machine to stall.

To gales of laughter from the audience, Ben stared out at them stony-faced, visible only from the chest up because of the supposedly malfunctioning lift.

An Oscar winning director was heckled as he delivered an impassioned critique of Donald Trump's foreign policy relating to the Israel-Palestine crisis during his acceptance speech on stage.

Basel Adra gripped the Oscar for Best Documentary for his film No Other Land, which captured the plight of Palestinians througout the ongoing war with Israel.

But as he slammed 'this administration's foreign policy' for blocking the path to peace, a member of the crowd shouted 'get rid of Hamas,' according to a Vulture reporter who heard the interaction.

The actor beat out TImothee Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan, and marked the third win of the night for The Brutalist.

'No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away. And I think what makes this night so special is the awareness of that,' he said during his acceptance speech.

Before he took to the stage, the actor left viewers disgusted when he was caught on camera taking a piece of gum out of his mouth and throwing it to his girlfriend.

'When we’re talking about Black excellence, we’re talking about Quincy,' Whoopi told the audience.

Queen Latifah then took to the stage to sing the song Ease on Down the Road from The Wiz.

The talk show host noticebly steered clear of politics during his opening monologue.

But later on in the evening he threw in a jab at the President, jokingly telling the audience, 'Anora is having a good night. Two wins already. I guess Americans are excited to see somebody finally stand up to a powerful Russian.'

It came after Oscars presenter Daryl Hannah also made an off-script remark about Trump.

As she started out her segment, the actress said 'Slava Ukraini.' The phrase translates to 'Glory to Ukraine.'

It comes following the startling exchange between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Oval Office this week, over Russia's war in Ukraine.

Many social media users even admitted that they were turning it off to watch White Lotus instead.
