This is the chilling moment a road rage driver hunts down and kills an e-bike rider to 'teach him a lesson' for performing a wheelie in front of his car.

Security footage captures Abdirahman Ibrahim tailing 22-year-old Liam Jones through the streets just before he shunted into his electric powered bicycle from behind and catapulted him into a concrete post.

Mr Jones had been seen on camera earlier in the evening performing the stunt that would seal his fate.

As he passed Ibrahim, who was driving a white coloured Seat Leon, he can be seen lifting the front wheel on his bike in the air and travelling solely on the back wheel for a few seconds before riding off accompanied by friend, Tayzhon Johnson.

The act infuriated the 21-year-old motorist who followed the pair to a quiet residential street in Stechford, Birmingham and on catching up with Mr Jones rammed into him twice.

Leaving his victim to die, Ibrahim then fled the scene but was later caught on camera shopping at a convenience store.

West Midlands Police today released these CCTV clips of the chase after Ibrahim was convicted of murder at Birmingham Crown Court.

During the trial - which finished yesterday - Ibrahim was said to have taken exception to Mr Jones and his friend 'showboating' on their bikes.

Phillip Bradley KC, prosecuting, told the court that the pair had been riding near to Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre on August 1, 2023.

They started to head home at around 11.30pm to recharge the batteries on the bikes when they passed Ibrahim in his white coloured Seat on the Coventry Road, a main route out of the city centre.

Ibrahim became enraged at Mr Jones performing a wheelie so close to his car and decided to go after him and Mr Johnson.

Noticing the car on their tail, Mr Johnson alerted his friend and both men tried to evade Ibrahim by riding down a one-way street.

However, Ibrahim followed suit and caught up with Mr Jones on a road close to a recreational ground where he rammed into the back of Mr Jones' e-bike twice.

The second collision flung him off the bike and into the post. He died at the scene.

Brother Abdullahi Ibrahim (pictured) has also been convicted of assisting an offender

In his address to court, Mr Bradley said: 'CCTV footage captured both bikes doing wheelies.

'You are going to have to consider the significance of that showboating.

'One possibility you may want to consider is whether the defendant took umbrage at Mr Jones' showboating.

'To put it another way did it wind the defendant up? So he wanted to teach him a lesson, following him and we know what ultimately happened.'

Ibrahim denied murder and admitted manslaughter but was convicted during a retrial.

The jury at his first trial had been unable to reach a verdict after Ibrahim's defence argued that he was a 'competitive' driver racing against two men on bikes.

However, prosecutor Mr Bradley revealed during the retrial that Mr Jones had only been travelling around 20mph on a 30mph residential street before he was struck while the Seat hit a speed of just 27mph.

He said: 'This was no accident. At the time of the fatal collision the defendant clearly intended him really serious harm.'

Ibrahim is expected to be jailed for life when he is sentenced on March 26.

His brother Abdullahi Ibrahim, aged 21, previously admitted a count of assisting an offender and will be sentenced on the same date.

  • A picture in a previous version of this story incorrectly said Abdullahi Ibrahim had been convicted of murder. This is incorrect. He was convicted after admitting a count of assisting an offender
