The brand that produces Britain's most popular Chinese car has unveiled its new flagship alternative to a Range Rover - though prices for its most luxurious car yet start from just £45,000.
The Jaecoo 8 SHS-P, which uses the car maker's popular 'super hybrid' petrol-electric system, offers drivers an impressive full-tank range of 700 miles and - for the first time ever - seating for up to seven passengers.
It is available in two configurations: the 'luxury' option has seating for a driver and six passengers while the 'executive' choice reduces seating to six to provides more space and comfier seating for customers who prefer to be driven than drive themselves.
It will be the third model from Jaecoo - which is the sister brand to Omoda and Chery, both of which are also on sale in Britain - and will arrive in the UK in May.
The model is also auspicious by name - with 8 linked to 'prosperity, progress and good fortune' in Chinese culture.
The 8's unveiling comes just days after thousands of the smaller Jaecoo 7 - the motor dubbed by social media mums as the 'Temu Range Rover' - were recalled due to a fault with a wiring harness clip.
Jaecoo has become extremely popular in Britain, despite having only launched its first car in January 2025.
The 7 was the car most purchased by private buyers in the 12-month period from its debut, topped the sales charts in the first month of 2026 and is the third best-selling new model in the UK by the end of February.
The model has propelled Jaecoo to the forefront of the motoring market, having secured a 13,000 per cent year-on-year growth in 2025.
Now looking to secure similar figures for this year with the J8, prices for the seven seat SHS-P Luxury start from £45,000, while the six-seater Executive is priced from £47,500.
Capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just 5.8 seconds, the J8 is powered by a Super Hybrid System comprising a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 3-speed DHT automatic transmission.
The car also has low CO2 emissions of just 14g/km, putting it at the lower end of first year tax rates.
Charging times on the 83-mile electric range are also rapid, with drivers able to boost batteries from 30 to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes.
With a boot capacity of 2,021 litres, the J8 offers ample space for larger families.
Drivers choosing the six-seat Executive model can also enjoy four heated, ventilated and massaging chairs and two foldable seats.
There's even a 'Boss Button' on the side of the front passenger seat which provides more leg room.
Jaecoo - which is owned by China's largest car exporter, Chery - is officially the fastest-growing mainstream automotive brand the UK has seen in the last ten years.
