A Tennessee woman captured the moment a US Marshal agent kicked her dog during her boyfriend's arrest.

Emma Hollingsworth claimed the agent injured her pup while they were arresting her boyfriend, Jaquize Henderson, outside of their Memphis apartment on Wednesday.

Federal officers had an arrest warrant for Henderson in connection with a commercial burglary in North Mississippi, according to court records obtained by Action News 5.

Hollingsworth said her boyfriend had surrendered peacefully to the officers. But as he was being arrested, their nine-month-old Schnauzer, Yoshi, bolted out the front door.

Videos of the ordeal show Yoshi dashing and barking around agents outside before an agent in a bright blue cap forcefully kicked him.

Another angle of the incident, captured by a nearby camera outside the home, showed a task force member attempting to shoo the small pup away from their K9.

As the Schnauzer barked and continued running, the same agent is seen striking the dog, sending it backward.

'My dog came out running. He was like, "What's going on?" And so the US Marshal kicked him very hard, forcefully, for no reason,' she told Fox13.

Hollingsworth said she took the dog to the vet, where he was treated for a broken rib and prescribed medication. The pooch is now recovering from his injuries.

She took to social media to share the video, expressing her frustration about the treatment Yoshi endured.

'This isn't protection — this is abuse. US Marshals came to our home, used unnecessary force, and kicked my dog, leaving him with a broken rib,' she wrote on Facebook.

Hollingsworth also told Action News 5 that she couldn’t retrieve her dog because a marshal was blocking her in the doorway of her apartment.

In a statement to the outlets about the arrest, the US Marshal's Service said 'a dog from one of the apartments got loose and tried repeatedly and aggressively to attack the working K9.'

They added that the dog owner was told to restrain the animal, but the owner 'did not do so.'

Responding to the viral video circulating on social media, the agency said, 'While the appearance of the incident is unfortunate, the deputy marshal’s action was not done with malice.

'It was a last-resort, split-second action taken by a law enforcement officer to control the environment and mitigate a dangerous situation.

'An uncontrolled, aggressive animal can hinder official duties and threaten safety,' the agency stated.

They also reminded dog owners to keep their pets leashed at all times.
