Multiple people were killed in West Point, Mississippi on Friday night, authorities say.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said in a post to Facebook that the incident saw 'multiple innocent lives lost to violence.'
Scott added that law enforcement took an individual into custody and there was 'no longer a threat to our community.'
'Unfortunately tonight we have dealt with tragedy in our community,' Scott wrote.
'I ask that you lift our victims and their families in your prayers Law Enforcement is busy investigating and will release an update as soon as possible.'
It is unclear how many victims may have been injured or killed in the incident, and Scott did not elaborate on the manner in which they were attacked.
