Thomas Tuchel voted for two England stars as his standout players of 2025 in the recent The Best FIFA Awards.

The Three Lions boss believed that Harry Kane and Cole Palmer were the best players in the world ahead of eventual winner Ousmane Dembele

Captains, managers, media, and fans were presented with a list of 11 stars from which to choose their top three and they were the only two England names on that list.

Paris Saint-Germain and France star Dembele took home the gong for Best Men's Player while Barcelona and Spain favourite Aitana Bonmati won the women's category.

Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe came second and third in the rankings, while Kane and Palmer had to settle for eighth and 11th.

But the two English stars still scooped up nominations from a wide variety of backers.

The duo (pictured in 2024) finished eighth and 11th in the rankings after a vote from captains, managers, journalists, and fans

Kane received a grand total of 91 top-three shouts from captains, managers, and journalists, while Palmer mustered 38.

The players who ranked Kane as their best were his Bayern Munich team-mate Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Australia captain Mathew Ryan, Bayern's Alphonso Davies (Canada), and Malaysia's Matthew Davies.

Meanwhile, Palmer earned top honours from Cook Islands' Thane Pora Vogel Beal, Ghana's Jordan Ayew, and Trinidad & Tobago's Kevin Molino.

In his own voting, Kane abandoned any notio of bias towards Palmer as he chose Dembele, PSG's Vitinha, and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in his top three.

It would have been interesting to see who Portugal's usual captain Cristiano Ronaldo would have voted for, but his nation did not put him forward.

As they did last year, Portugal nominated Bernardo Silva to cast his votes.

Meanwhile, only three Premier League players made FIFA's team of the year as part of their Best Awards.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, Donnarumma and Palmer are the only Premier League representatives in the side.

Ousmane Dembele added the FIFA Best men's player award to his Ballon d'Or crown

There is no place for Barcelona forward Raphinha, Man City striker Erling Haaland or Liverpool's Mo Salah.

Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham sits alongside PSG's Vitinha in central midfield, with Palmer on the right and Spain and Barcelona youngster Pedri on the left.

Van Dijk is the only player selected in the defence who does not ply their trade for PSG, with Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho and Achraf Hakimi all chosen.

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal and Dembele comprise the forward two.
