Mohamed Salah has taken to social media to share a lonely picture in the gym just days after his explosive outburst at Leeds.

The Liverpool forward, 33, heavily criticised the club and manager Arne Slot in a bombshell interview to reporters after being named on the bench for a third successive match at Elland Road.

As a result, Salah has not been included in Liverpool's Champions League squad to face Inter Milan on Tuesday, remaining behind at Anfield to train away from the first team.

During his explosive interview, the Reds forward accused the club of throwing him under the bus and said he had no relationship with under pressure boss Slot.

It remains to be seen whether Salah will play again for Liverpool before he jets off on international duty with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations next week.

The post, which was shared to Instagram on Tuesday morning, has been liked by his former Reds team-mates Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who have both left Anfield under controversial circumstances in recent seasons.

Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer, sparked fury among Liverpool fans and was loudly booed during the latter stages of last season, having been accused of deliberately running down his contract.

Meanwhile, ex-Reds captain Henderson was met with huge backlash for his decision to leave Anfield for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq in 2023.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher tore into Salah during a passionate eight-minute on Sky Sports on Monday, labelling the Egyptian a 'disgrace' for lashing out at the club.

Carragher claimed Salah had waited for Liverpool to suffer a bad result to deliver a 'choreographed' interview to damage the club and Slot's position.

'I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game,' Carragher said.

'Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was.

'I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it is choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.'

Salah has been an integral part of Liverpool's success since he arrived at the club in 2017.

His stunning goal record helped Liverpool win both the Premier League and Champions League under Jurgen Klopp, while his remarkable 47 goal contributions in 38 league games last campaign led to the team winning the title during Slot's debut season at Anfield.

Just three days after his explosive Leeds outburst, Salah was nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year's World Sport Star award, mainly for his impressive performances last season.

Salah's form this term has dipped drastically in tandem with Liverpool's, with just five goals in 18 appearances across all competitions so far.

The Egyptian will head off to the Africa Cup of Nations next week less than a month before the January transfer window opens, with significant doubt cast over his Liverpool future.

Slot said on Monday that he cannot guarantee Salah will play for Liverpool again.

Asked for a hand-on-heart answer on whether Salah would play for the club again or not, he said: 'I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time.'

Earlier, he had said: 'I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player.

'Usually I am calm and polite but it does not mean I'm weak. When a player says things like that, we have to react as a club. And you can see he is not here (in Milan).'
