Britpop legends Liam and Noel Gallagher kicked off the Australian leg of their world tour with a literal bang on Friday night.

Oasis performed in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium to more than 55,000 screaming fans for the first of their three sold-out shows Down Under.

But the iconic brothers were left stunned halfway through their song Champagne Supernova when one fan set off flares in the middle of their set.

Footage of the incident shows the bright red light illuminating the nosebleeds before someone threw a flare into the surrounding crowd.

It landed on the ground amid the packed moshpit, burning as concertgoers attempted to back away from the glare.

Liam, 53, and Noel, 58, didn't let the disruption interrupt their set, though the younger of the two called out the reckless act when he finished singing.

'That was naughty. Naughty, naughty, naughty,' he said as he wagged his finger at the culprit before continuing on with the show.

However, according to one attendee, Noel 'looked worried' about the incident.

'Each time you saw this flash, it looked like a fire, and then it was contained fairly quickly,' concertgoer Virginia told news.com.au.

'I was there with my 13-year-old daughter, so once that went off, I thought it was bad and thought we'll just leave before the end of the song and try and get outside.

'My husband thought Noel Gallagher looked worried. And then Liam like waggled his finger and went "naughty, naughty".

'It was so packed, so packed in there. If you're at the footy or the cricket there's a bit more space to move around, but there... I hope people are okay.'

Liam later took to X—formerly Twitter—to slam the culprit yet again.

'To the massive C*** who launched that flare into the crowd last night at the gig in Melbourne you are 1 seriously f***ed up individual and you will get yours trust me,' he vowed.

Fans flocked to Reddit to call out the person who lit the flare and threw it in the middle of the crowd

Other fans flocked to Reddit to call out the person who lit the flare and threw it in the middle of the crowd.

'That is so f***ed up they could have burnt some poor girls face. Hope they get arrested and banned from gigs,' one person wrote.

'Lighting a flare is one thing but throwing it in to a crowd is quite another. Scumbag behaviour. Hope no one was hurt,' added another.

'I really don't see what fun people get out of doing stuff like that,' wrote a third.

'Got no issue with smoke bombs/flares being lit but throwing it is a f***ing c*** move,' said someone else.

'What kind of f***in a***ole does that in a crowded stadium?' one user commented.

Daily Mail has contacted Marvel Stadium for comment.

They will put on shows in Sydney at the Accor Stadium on Friday and Saturday next week, November 7 and 8.

It is the first time the band has toured the country since 2005.

The band has a huge following in Australia, with two of their albums reaching number one on the ARIA chart and their hit song Wonderwall hitting the top spot in 1996.

Last year, the band announced they were reuniting for the first time since 2009 after Noel and Liam finally put their differences aside following a long-standing feud.
