Celebrity Traitors aired its most dramatic episode yet on Wednesday night as Jonathan Ross was finally banished from the castle after a very tense round table.
The comedian and presenter, 64, - who was a Traitor - said goodbye to his fellow players after receiving the most votes at the round table.
He had a whopping six votes and even his two fellow Traitors Cat Burns and Alan Carr turned on him after he arose suspicions as the game progressed.
Joe Marler, Celia Imrie, Cat, Alan, Kate Garraway and Nick Mohammed all voted for Jonathan after becoming convinced he was playing on the dark side, while Jonathan voted for David Olusoga and David voted for Nick.
Keeping the other contestants on the edge of their seats until the very end, as he stood up and revealed himself, Traitor Jonathan told the players: 'I've got no idea what everyone is doing wrong.
'I cannot believe you've done it again. I can't believe I'm standing here for no good reason so I don't want to be rude but you're idiots.'
'But I am not judging because it's fiendish. I'm not blaming the players, I'm blaming the game. I am now and have always been throughout the game completely faithful...'
Leaving the aghast players with their heads in their hands he then dropped his bombshell saying: 'To the Traitors!'
Joe then labelled it 'the most ridiculous bow out ever' while other celebrated they had finally caught their first Traitor.
After, Jonathan said in a piece to camera: 'They got me but I'm kind of relieved and I'm glad that Alan went for me as well.
'We have been Traitors all the way through, but I'm hoping just out of honour for the departed older member of the family that they will stick together and romp off to victory!'
At the start of the episode comedian Lucy Beaumont was murdered face-to-face by the Traitors after last Thursday's episode left viewers on a huge cliff hanger.
It was between her, Kate and Nick to be taken out at the giant chess board.
And Lucy was angry with her friend Cat for choosing to murder her.
She told them: 'I hope you feel terrible about yourselves.'
Then looking at Cat she said: 'I'm not happy with you at all. You have played this really, really well.'
Cat tried to placate her friend saying: 'Sorry Lucy.'
But Lucy fired back: 'That's not good enough.'
Lucy later sat down in front of the camera after she was murdered and said: 'I can't believe it was Cat.
'I've totally let my emotions cloud things and not wanting to believe that because I've built up a friendship with somebody that they are not capable of doing it.'
The task of the day meanwhile provided plenty of laughs as Alan left his fellow contestants in stitched trying to cross a wobbly bridge.
Rugby player Joe won the shield during the task.
After the dramatic round table which saw Jonathan be murdered the episode ended with a huge twist.
Host Claudia Winkleman said before leaving the room: 'You did it [finding a Traitor] just in the nick of time because after tomorrow the banished players will not reveal their true identity.'
When it then came to the next murder, instead of meeting in the turret, Alan and Cat both received individual letters.
They read: 'Traitors, tonight there will be no secret meeting in the turret. Instead you must murder in plain sight at tonight's dinner.
To do this one Traitor must toast the player you want to murder while saying the words 'Parting is such sweet sorrow' followed by their name. You must do this before the night is over.'
Viewers will have to tune into Thursday's episode to see who they choose to murder in plain sight.
The episode comes after The Daily Mail revealed that Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd 'lashed out' and called Jonathan a 'f***ing snake' after being murdered during a behind-the-scenes meltdown.
Sources on the show revealed to the Daily Mail that the Irish actress, 29, was 'furious' after being eliminated early in the series and took out her anger on presenter Jonathan whom she correctly guessed was a Traitor before he took his revenge.
An insider explained that Ruth was genuinely 'angry' and described it as a 'f***ing joke' that she had been cast out in the early stages of the competition.
Ruth, known for her roles in Netflix series The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, became the third contestant to leave after calling out Jonathan as her top suspect during the roundtable.
She was sent packing following the elimination of singer Paloma Faith by her ex close friend Alan and his accomplice, Cat, as well as Olympic diver Tom Daley.
Ruth recently said there was an 'unspoken hierarchy' on the show that 'placed certain people, like myself, at a disadvantage' because, unlike some showbiz veterans such as Jonathan, she hasn't been in the industry very long.
A TV insider revealed: 'Ruth was furious after she was murdered during the early stages of filming.
'She called Jonathan a 'f***ing snake' and really let go of her anger behind the scenes.
'There was definitely frustration from Ruth that her co-stars weren't listening to her after she correctly identified Jonathan as a Traitor.
'Ruth felt that not many of the celebrities were following their own instincts and minds, which meant the game wasn't always played properly.
'It was a shame for her to be murdered so early in the competition when she had a lot more to give.'
The Daily Mail contacted a Celebrity Traitors spokesperson for comment.
The Traitors continues on BBC1 at 9pm on Thursday.
