Dubai has set the record for serving the world's most expensive coffee at £500 a cup.

Roasters, an Emirati coffee house chain with four locations across the city, was presented with a Guinness World Record at its flagship Downtown Dubai store on 13 September after serving a cup of their specialty grade coffee for AED 2,500 (£503).

Brewed using the V60 method and served in a bespoke Edo Kiriko crystal glass, the  beverage was crafted from Panama Esmeralda Geisha beans, noted for their floral, fruity, and citrusy notes, all of which offer an extraordinary sensory experience.

Customers were treated to Geisha-themed desserts as they sipped their record-breaking brew, which has established a new standard for luxury coffee experiences worldwide.

'Today is the year for the record of the most expensive coffee cup,' the Guinness World Record adjudicator said during the official ceremony, as reported by coffee roaster specialists Mr Bean Coffee LTD

They added: 'This record was achieved by Roaster's Specialty Coffee House. Congratulations, you are officially amazing.'

The extraordinary milestone follows a bold purchase by a Dubai-based startup that has contributed to the UAE city's rising reputation as a luxury coffee hub.

Last month, at the 'Best of Panama 2025' auction, the startup - only a week old at the time - stunned the global coffee industry by purchasing the entire 20-kilogram lot of washed Geisha coffee from Hacienda La Esmeralda for $604,000 ($30,204 per kg).

The event caused a tidal wave in global markets and fired up debates among experts, investors and coffee leaders worldwide - positioning Dubai as a key player in the movement of speciality coffee.

Elsewhere in Dubai, the world's tallest hotel is set to open later this year - and the record-breaking property has some pretty incredible features.

At 365m high, the Ciel Tower hotel will span a whopping 82 floors and have more than 1,000 rooms.

The hotel will also be home to what's set to be the 'world's highest infinity pool' on the 76th floor.
