Troubled wind farm developer Orsted has been given the all-clear to resume work on an almost completed US project which was halted by Donald Trump.

The US President last month issued an order to stop work on the project off Rhode Island in his war against renewable energy.

But a federal judge has ruled Orsted can press on with developing the wind farm, sending its shares up 4 per cent yesterday.

However, analysts warned the victory may be short-lived if the White House appeals or takes further regulatory action against other projects.

The project is 80 per cent complete, with 45 out of 65 wind turbines already installed. It is expected to produce enough electricity to power 350,000 homes in the US.

The Revolution Wind project is located 15 miles off the coast. Orsted said it would resume work ‘as soon as possible’.
