Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones were pictured on a cosy lunch just weeks after they 'cooled their romance'.

True gent Gethin, 47, gave Helen, 42, his umbrella as they headed out near the TV studios where they film Morning Live in Manchester and got a soaking as he made sure she was protected from the elements.

Helen had a big smile on her face as she stepped out in her baggy Adidas trackpants, begging the question of whether they are giving their romance another go. 

The day before, Gethin returned to work after the death of his father - and Helen had been seen carrying two coffees as she no doubt provided him with some support. 

Gethin announced his father had sadly died almost three weeks ago after suffering from a long illness. 

At the time, he shared a picture of himself smiling alongside his dad in hospital alongside a heartfelt post about the man who clearly meant so much to him. 

Sharing the famous Max Boyce quote, Gethin wrote: 'Wales defeated England. Hymns and Arias with dad last night, before he left us this morning.

'The most perfect, peaceful end. Welsh hymns playing, and the grandsons on speakerphone saying goodbye.'

Gethin revealed his father had battled illness for an extended period of time as he highlighted the importance of humour in helping his family.

He said: 'Dad was poorly for a while, he put up a good fight, incredible really. It was so nice to see his dry humour, the importance of faith and his love for classical music shine through at the end.

'Every day I've been at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff, someone would stop me and ask me about dad.

'He probably taught them at some point. He made a big impact on education in these parts over a long period of time. 

'He was strict and direct, always reasonable. A teacher for 40 years, a headteacher for 28!'

The Strictly star went on to thank the NHS for looking after his father, noting that his sister, who also works for the institution, has been 'amazing'. 

Helen and Gethin previously appeared to have cooled off their reported romance.

She spent the school holidays with her children, Ernie, nine, Louis, eight, and Elsie, four, from her relationship with ex-husband, Richie Myler.

And Gethin was recently spotted on celebrity dating app Raya.

Helen and Gethin had previously grown close after spending time with each other outside work, including on a steamy spa break.

The Daily Mail revealed in May how the pair's 'flirty' on-screen chemistry had 'blossomed' into a deeper connection, and they were seen acting like a 'couple' at a charity event last year courtesy of their 'tactile' behaviour towards each other.

And to add extra intrigue to their relationship, the hosts' respective representatives both refused to comment after being quizzed amid reports they were spotted leaving the Bafta awards together.

Helen has been single since her high profile 2022 split from husband Richie Myler, the father of her three children.

The rugby league player was married to Helen for nine years, with the former Strictly star writing on Instagram that she was very 'sad' he had 'left the family home'.

Richie has since moved on with Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of Leeds Rhinos president Andrew Thirkill, and they have welcomed two children, Olivia and Freddie.
