Leeds United are set to bolster their squad with some Premier League experience as they close in on signing former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin is a free agent after leaving Everton earlier this summer, ending a nine-year spell at the Toffees.

The next step in the 28-year-old's career has been highly-speculated with Manchester United, Newcastle and Aston Villa having been among his suitors.

However, the England international is now bound for newly-promoted Leeds United.

According to The Athletic, terms between both parties have been agreed with the striker now set for a medical at Leeds' Thorp Arch training ground.

His arrival would see him become the eighth new addition to the Elland Road outfit this summer as Daniel Farke looks avoid a return straight back to the Championship.

Calvert-Lewin joined Everton in 2016 from Sheffield United and went on to score 71 goals in 274 appearances, becoming a key figure at Goodison Park and earning England recognition along the way - winning 11 caps, between 2020 and 2021, and scoring four goals.

In an emotional message to supporters in June, he suggested that it was his decision, albeit an 'incredibly difficult' one, to leave Everton, rather than the club's.

'This choice to move on was not simply about me - it was a decision my family and I spent a long time considering together,' part of his statement read.

'We believe it's the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn't lessen the bond I'll always have with Everton.
